Monday's Mourning Ministry

Carry Me

~

There Will Be a Day

~Jeremy Camp

Carry Me

Father I feel so lost, so all alone,

So out there, so raw, left here on my own.

When will my pain end? When will I be free?

Until I get there, will You carry me?

Carry me please Jesus. You're my soul Friend.

Left by dearest loved ones, at my wits end,

Traumatized and scared, limping through each day,

Carry me dear Jesus up Death's steep highway.

Father, I cannot bear this grief load alone.

It seems I get tripped up... stone after stone.

One day I function, the next in a pile.

Jesus will You carry me...one more mile?

God, I feel betrayed, by my closest friend,

Such a punch in the gut, agonies won't end.

Nightmares awaken me, leaving me wired,

Loss upon loss, heavy grief leaves me mired.

What is life's purpose when I'm thrown about,

So demoralized, can't find my way out...

"Is this Your perfect will?" I begin t' doubt.

I can't go around. Is through my only route?

God, I'm so blinded by these tears that sting,

Death, then betrayal, leave me plummeting,

Wondering when will I catch my next breath:

My loved one betrays; my child meets her death...

Vile one has a hay-day kicking me around,

Now it seems I've fallen down on the ground...

God, Your way is hard; there's no way around;

But I know Your Love won't leave me down on this ground.

All my burdens laid down on You to rest...

Carry me Jesus on Your gentle breast.

Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls."

~Matthew 11:28-29 NLT

Shout for joy, O heavens;

rejoice, O earth,

burst into song,

O mountains!

For the LORD comforts His

people

and will have compassion on His afflicted ones.

But (we) said, "The LORD

has forsaken me,

the Lord has forgotten

me."

"Can a mother forget the

baby at her breast

and have no compassion

on the child she has

borne?

Though she may forget,

I will not forget you!

See, I have engraved you on

the palms of My hands..."

~Isaiah 49:13-16 NIV

Thank you to my good friend Danielle Helms for reminding me of the precious young man Jeremy Camp who found himself a widower early into his marriage. He seems to have learned of grief through directly tasting its bitter salts and then pouring out his heartfelt cries to God, later translating much of his heart-breaking angst and God's sweet faithfulness amidst it into songs for you and me. Thank you Danielle, and thank you Jeremy.

There Will Be A Day

~Jeremy Camp

I try to hold on to this world with everything I have,

But I feel the weight of what it brings,

And the hurt that trys to grab

The many trials that seem to never end,

His Word declares this truth,

That we will enter in this rest with wonders anew.

But I hold on to this hope and the promise that He brings

That there will be a place with no more suffering...

There will be a day with no more tears,

no more pain, and no more fears

There will be a day when the burdens of this place,

will be no more, we’ll see Jesus face to face,

But until that day, we’ll hold on to You always.

I know the journey seems so long,

You feel you're walking on your own.

But there has never been a step

Where you’ve walked out all alone.

Troubled soul don’t lose your heart

'Cause joy and peace He brings

And the beauty that’s in store

Outweighs the hurt of life’s sting...

But I hold on to this hope and the promise that He brings

That there will be a place with no more suffering...

There will be a day with no more tears,

no more pain, and no more fears...

There will be a day when the burdens of this place,

will be no more, we’ll see Jesus face to face!

But until that day, we’ll hold on to You always.

I can’t wait until that day

where the very One I’ve lived for always

will wipe away the sorrow that I’ve faced,

Oh, to touch the scars that rescued me

from a life of shame and misery

--Oh, this is why, this is why I sing….

There will be a day with no more tears,

no more pain, and no more fears...

There will be a day when the burdens of this place,

will be no more, we’ll see Jesus face to face!

There will be a day with no more tears,

no more pain, and no more fears...

There will be a day when the burdens of this place,

will be no more, we’ll see Jesus face to face!

There will be a day, He will wipe away the tears,

He will wipe away the tears,

He will wipe away the tears…..

There will be a Day!

Thank You, Lord. There WILL be a Day. Give us strength to walk through this world with its loss, its betrayals, its sin, its temptations, its sickness, pain, injury and disease, its dying, its alienation from You, its distancing from You, and its feelings of abandonment by You. Thank You that You're true when others aren't. Thank You that You're the way when all other ways lead to despair. Thank You that You're the life when death and its deadly encumbrances ever threaten to take us down. And thank You that though we may feel abandoned by You, we never are.

And, thank You dear Lord, "There WILL be a Day" when we see You face to face, surrounded by Your love, as You wipe the tears from our face. In the name of our Savior who literally had the love for us carved into His hands and feet, I pray. Amen.

"Can a mother forget the

baby at her breast

and have no compassion

on the child she has

borne?

Though she may forget,

I will not forget you!

See, I have engraved you on

the palms of My hands..."
